I have had the pleasure of meeting up with Gigi twice now for coffee, and both times I have inundated her with questions about her successful lifestyle blog, It's a Sparkly Life. I have a bit of a fascination with bloggers, I love finding out how they conduct their business as well as how they differentiate themselves in a saturated market. And I applaud creative and business-savvy entrepreneurial women for inspiring others to follow their dreams of turning their passion into a business. I can't help but be inspired myself after chatting with Gigi.
Though she is fairly new to the blogging community, Gigi has a clean and defined aesthetic, a large loyal following and future goals for her blog. I don't doubt we will be seeing more amazing lifestyle content and brand collaborations from her in the near future. I hope reading about her journey provides a little insight to the blogging world, and an opportunity to get to know Gigi personally.
What inspired you to start your blog It's a Sparkly Life?
I love entertaining and having people over. My friends would ask me how I made things and decorated, and in reality it wasn't too complicated. I wanted to share my entertaining ideas with my friends and family and that is what inspired me to start my blog.
How do you differentiate from other bloggers?
I try to truly be a life and style blogger, so to not only show outfits. I like doing product reviews, recipes and tablescapes which I think sets me apart.
What was your proudest achievement?
I guess when companies start to approach you and they are genuinely interested in working with you it feels like your blog has taken off. I am currently working with Giftagram which I am really excited about. I think the idea is pretty cool, I love how they curate the gift selection and how fresh and modern the app design is. It is a great project to be part of so I am quite proud of our work together.
What was the most important factor that attributed to your blogs success?
Right now I would say social media, especially Instagram. It is an important tool to gain a broader reach for followers and companies. I've interacted with companies on Instagram which has led to collaborations on my blog.

You have lived and travelled to quite a few places, which has been your favourite?
My favourite place to live right now is Toronto, it has something for everyone because of the variety of neighbourhoods, and really everything is in Toronto! To travel it's a toss up between Hawaii and Portugal. I just came back from a trip to Portugal, I love the culture and beauty, and well Hawaii is just magical.
Where do you see yourself and It's a Sparkly Life a year from now?
I hope to have more entertaining on my blog and showcase a more collaborative effort for dinner party posts. I want to show the process from beginning to end an not just little snippets.
What are three pieces in your wardrobe you couldn't live without?
My wedding rings because I have an emotional attachment to them obviously. I have gold bangles that I got when I was 21, I wear them almost everyday, I got them custom made in Iran. And a black pair of Jimmy Choo's because they are a classic I will always have.
What is a piece of advice you would give to a blogger starting out?
I would say it's important to consider yourself a brand from the very beginning. Meaning every single image or content you curate should be representative of your overall message.

Words you live by?
